You serve as
something more
than a role model
to me –
All you ask is that
I choose who I
Wish
to
be.
From ’89 to 2011
you have been
with me
Through the arduous
paths of ‒
Hell
And
Heaven.
My power forward
during these
dark days,
My head linesman
guarding me from
the hate,
Your protection
solid as a shield ‒
Yet
softer
than
lace.
Regardless if
my dreams are
ghost towns,
You imbue them
with the life
If I experience six
days of “not me,”
on the seventh day,
You’ll bring me
back to complete.
Though I am
pained by society’s
stone cold grip
I’m a Survivor,
As you
chisel it.
What I take comfort
in the most ‒
Is that with
every sigh ‒
