Run to the confessional
if you so dare –

Belt Hail Mary’s
upon unlistening ears!

You steal the
sweet soul of
painstaking
thought ‒

That artists
on the fiery
forge of creation

So skillfully in
ink, wrought ‒

It does not take
a referee to
cry foul

On your
ill-gotten
goal!

Play the pet to
a master’s
hand ‒

You are no man’s
best friend.

An actor, a pretender –
labels are too kind,
to a fool whose dim
head

Glows
falsely in
spotlight.

Such a halo will
turn into a tightly
woven noose,

Constricting your façade
as the screws start
to loose.

Oh sure ‒

Just try to find
solace in stolen
headlines,

As the journalist
eating up your words ‒

Will be cut short
by the red flashing light.

Time’s up! Your exposure
their next feast on

Which to dine.

Background Info:
Here's the backstory behind some of the topics so you can understand certain references in the poem...

Jozy Altidore - Goodness there have been a lot of sports topics lately! Altidore is a soccer player on the US national team.  If you noticed the other trending topic GOAL USA, you can probably guess why he is trending.

Grecia Colmenares - She is a Venezuelan-Argentine actress who has played a variety of soap opera roles all her life.

Gabriel Cezar - There is sparse information available on this topic but from what I gather, he is most significantly hated for plagiarism.  This topic is what inspired the majority of the piece.

Ana Paula Padrão - Padrão is a Brazilian news journalist who frequently covers international news stories and has hopped between anchoring several programs.
