once cryptically
uttered –
Blunt is the blade
to the punch of
a prolific pen
Slugger.
Turns of phrases
easily bear daggers
in hand −
That jab at the heart
or slither into the
slope of the back.
They frenzy through
a chat like voracious,
Piranhas –
Or hide themselves
in the sweet notes
of pleasing to hear
Sonatas.
Whether such words
swoop down to pierce
with their fangs −
Like
a bat
in the night,
Or slide themselves
pridefully as the ring
does on the vain bride −
Their dreamy effects
easily turn to nightmares −
No hope for
the bitten
in sight!
So be careful
if you partake
in life’s chocolate box
Of proverbs
and parleys,
Of niceties
and sayings,
You will find
yourself bogged
in a swamp of
falseness ‒
Your feet are
unable to ever
Wade.
